Bushcraft foundation day:

The bushcraft foundation day covers two key skills, knife and saw work and an introduction to firelighting. This foundation course will prepare and enable you to progress onto further courses.

Knife and saw skills

A knife and saw can both be essential tools. They enable you to carry out a wide range of tasks for example, cutting wood, preparing food, gathering plant material, wood crafting and carving. In untrained hands they can be potentially dangerous. With training and supervision you can maximise the potential of both the knife and the saw.

  • Knife safety
  • Harvest material with saw and use knife to craft some bushcraft items

Introduction to Firelighting

Learn the magic of lighting a fire without a match! Fire as a primitive skill has allowed the human race to live and survive in every enviroment throughout the world. Fire lighting is an essential skill it allows us to cook, make water safe, create a signal and it can provide us with heat,light and comfort.

Course content

  • Fire lighting techniques, including demonstration of fire by friction.
  • Preparation and final removal of fire to leave no trace.
