Natural history :
Tree identification

Trees are one of the most important elements in bushcraft.

They can provide us with shelter, fuel, construction material, food and medicine.

Having the ability to identify a range of trees is essential. A lot of uses are attached to particular trees, for example looking for food or material for fire lighting.

Being able to correctly identify a range of trees will enhance your bushcraft knowledge.

Course content:

  • Guided walk through woodland.
  • Look at range of trees and discuss main identification points and range of uses for each tree.
  • Collect samples for identification test at end of day.
